Torres del Paine, Chile

9 days in the backcountry of Torres del Paine National Park. Mountains, glaciers and wind. Great trek into some beautiful country. Our hike took us on a long approach to the park, allowing us to see it from a distance. That first day, the winds were sustained at 50 mph. After that, we circumnavigated the range adding side hikes to the bases of the larger peaks and spires. The highlight of the trek came on day 8, as we ascended a pass above an enormous glacier. We carried a tent (which did blow over one night) but had the respite of cleaning up every few nights in refugio´s along the way.

Filling up on hearty food today and heading up to Mount Fitzroy tomorrow for another stint out and about. We are travelling with our friends Dave and Lindsay. Dave and I are trying to find a guide to take us to a peak called Gorra Blanca, while Kori and Lindsay will likely hit the backcountry and explore the park.

Hope all is well..

Video of avalanche on glacier above camp. The fall spans around 1800 feet.
