We have been in Bolivia for 3 breathless days, acclimatizing in the capital city of La Paz at 12,000 feet. We went into the high country today to speed up our acclimatization. A truck drove us up to nearly 18,000 feet where we scrambled up a few local hills and headed back down before we got too sick. In the morning we are headed into the mountains a week. We plan on trekking for three days to the base of a mountain called Huayna Potosi, then spending the next few days climbing it (at least Brent will). The trek starts at 14,000 feet...so we are in for a challenge. Huayna Potosi is a mountain near La Paz with a summit of 6,088m.
Happy Mother's day to Kay and Suzie!! We'll check back in a week or so...
17,500 in the Cordillera Real. This was our second choice for a wedding location but Provence has better wine.
