"My love for you is ticking clock"

Russia and the Orient Express

Spent a few very hot days in Moscow then we boarded the train for Mongolia, spending 5 days crossing a time zone each day. Moscow is a huge, expensive city. Red Square, the Kremlin and St. Basil's Cathedral were all impressive. We were here mainly for the train and because we had to register with the government (among all sorts of other things Russia makes traveler's do, we were required to let the government know where we were and where we were going...and for how long).

The train was very comfortable..for a train. The bathrooms were cleaner than we expected and each car had a hot water spout for tea, coffee and our nightly meal of Ramen noodles. We passed the time by updating our journals, listening to our new Ipod (thanks Denver crew, Shieks!) reading and drinking not an unchilled Russian beer nightly. The country side passed by with no great landmarks except for the enormous Lake Baikal near the Mongolian border. Aside from the occasional concrete factory or nuclear power plant...we didn't see much of anything..a lot of prarie and a lot of birch trees. The journey itself was spectacular.

When we finally woke up on day 5, we were welcomed to Mongolia by wild horses and and nomadic gers in green rolling hills.. We are finally in Asia and very excited to be here...

St. Basil's Cathedral...unforgettable

Hi Brent and Kori,

Sorry it has taken me sooooo long to put a comment up on your blog. When I read the title "My love for you is a ticking clock", I figured that was a subtle, brent-esque subliminal message to me that he was going to nix our friendship if I did not post something. I have been reading your stuff sporadically throughout the summer as I have been crazy busy leading trips (I didn't realize you were getting married on your trip - congrats!!!). Anyways, keep safe and give me an email when you get a chance.

Map of our travels...(almost..we ran out of space on google maps..)
