Himalaya
Hi everyone,
Been off the grid lately in the mountains. We just finished a few weeks of trekking in Nepal, exploring the mountains in the Everest Region. The experience was outstanding-I cannot recommend Nepal enough to any of you who enjoy hiking and mountain scenery.
I am in Kathmandu for less than a day before setting off on my climb, Kori stayed in the mountains in a small village where I will meet her tomorrow on the way to base camp. In the next month, Kori and I will be in the Himalaya south of Mt. Everest. While I am climbing, Kori will be hiking up valley for some closer views of Everest or enjoying her favorite pastime of drinking mass quantities of tea (in base camp). The day to day details of the climb will be posted on http://www.summitclimb.com/new/default.asp?linktype=r&nid=98 if you are interested. The link is also on the right side of the page. The mountain I am attempting is called Ama Dablam. If you are a google earth fan it may be worth a look-pretty wicked.
We have many pictures we would like to share but I'm not sure the electricity will stay on long enough here in Kathmandu to get more than a few online before I catch my plane tomorrow morning. We have not checked email for the past 3 weeks and it will likely be a month more before we have a reliable connection. We will do our best to post from the mts.
Thanks for checking in,
Brent
Ama Dablam as seen on one of our few clear days in the past few weeks of trekking
Yaks crossing footbridge...
Scene alone the trail
One of Kori's 14 cups of milk tea per morning..
Yak in Gokyo lake at around 16K feet
On top of Gokyo peak, Everest surrounded by much scarier looking mountains behind us.
Ted/Barb-Cholatse is the scariest looking mountain I have ever seen. Pumori may be on the list though.
