The Happy Country
Uganda is our favorite country in Africa without a doubt. The people are great and the countryside is mountainous and green in all directions. After all that Uganda has been through, the people remain happy. We missed it the moment we left. Since leaving a month ago, we have spent 15 rough days on buses in some remote spots (this may be a bit of an understatement, but we will save our whining about sore butts for another time). Uganda to us was a time of relaxing and enjoying Africa. We met and traveled with four people (three Australians, one Irish) who made this time all the better. Our gang of six did everything from rafting the Nile to cooking outlandish meals to seeing the mountain gorilla's together. We also adopted a dog for a few days or better yet, the dog adopted us. So this post is dedicated to our 3 day dog, "Nipples", who guarded our tents by night and ate our leftovers by day.

We camped on a volcanic lake for 3 nights and had a cove to ourselves. Ate 20 cent avocados and 30 cent pineapples and had a great time fooling around off the nearby dock.
$2 a night for this..?

We were invited into this woman's home to see the baskets she was selling. When we showed up, she had cooked us a meal of bean, cabbage and what she called 'Irish Potatoes' in honor of Christine, our Irish friend in the center.
