Condors and the South America´s version of San Fran...

Some time in the mountains, some time in the city...

Just before reaching Santiago, we stopped in a town called Talca. This is a Chilean wine country, lying just a the foot of the western Andes. Between wine touring, we spent a day in the mountains and found some pretty remarkable views.

Back in Washington?



You can never really get away from the mountians in Chile (not that you´d want to), but this was the furthest from the high counrty we´ve been so far. Before visiting Santiago, we popped into Valparaiso, Chile. This is a city of around 1M people living in colorful stacked homes that seem to fall into the ocean. The city is the artistic center of Chile. Chile itself is a very orderly and almost serious place, so this was a chance to see the softer side of the country.
