The Ethiopian Wedding: Here Comes the...Beef?

The following are pictures of the wedding we were invited to after our time in the mountains. You will not see Kori because she fled within minutes of seeing the wall of raw beef...

This man came to town from the countryside to attend the wedding. He asked me to take his picture many times, a rarity among people who are usually very timid of having their photo taken.

Gored Gored, beef chunks eaten raw with injera (the pancake-like food underneath).

The butcher cuts the meat directly off the quarter and onto your plate. It was at least 90 degree's outside but somehow this area was kept clean and didn't smell.

The banquet with Ethiopian fare, plus plenty of Tej (honey wine). As you can see, we fit in well with the crowd..

I had to post one picture. The average steer in Ethiopia is 1/5 the size of this guy. He was roped, but pushed on his side, his head was held down and after this picture was taken, slaughtered on the ground.

The wedding party..the bride didn't seem too happy. Deep down, maybe she wanted to get married in Provence.
